chad farris

Growing up in the small town of Deport, Texas Chad Farris began playing guitar at the age of eight. When he was 16, he started playing in bands as a guitarist and backing vocalist. After several failed bands, he formed "Roman Cult" in 1992 with some friends from Sulpur Springs, Texas. "Roman Cult" was a three piece band and Farris was the lead vocalist as well as guitarist. They started playing parties and local clubs in the area. From there, they recorded a 4 song demo and started playing in the DFW area. They once shared the stage with "The Nixons" at "Trees".

The group disbanded when Farris moved to Alabama to attend college. He played guitar with a few bands while in college until returning to Texas. Upon returning to Texas he formed "Concrete Submarine". They played a few parties of their own to pay their rent and many people would attend their open practices but they never really took off.

Upon the breakup of "Concrete Submarine" the members of "Primrose" contacted Farris. The formed the rock group "Deep". They saw much regional success as well as putting on the largest concert in Lamar County history.

After "Deep", Farris again played with several other bands until 2000. Longtime friend Allan Hubbard contacted Farris. He had an idea for a songwriterÂ’s night at a new club called the "South Main Depot". After about a month, they changed it to open mic night and it took off from there. Open Mic was frequently the top grossing event each week at the South main Depot.

In 2004, Farris recorded an album entitled "Rust" Farris played all of the instruments and performed all of the vocals. He also produced and mixed the album. Farris says that "Rust" is his most honest work to date.

Farris enjoys performing as well as writing. His songs are always based on an event that he has been through. His lyrics are meant to make the listener think and make their own interpretation of his work. Farris is quoted as saying" If you pay 5 bucks to see me, you will get at least 10 dollars of entertainment." This is an understatement! If you have ever seen Farris live, you will understand
